Not long after I got back into scrapping I was re introduced to the 30 Days of Sketches group. This is a group where for a month 30 sketches are shared, with the idea that you play along each day, or as many as you can. The current series is number 15. The great thing about the group is that all the previous series are still available. Make sure you go check out the group here.
Of course I had to jump in and commit to playing along every day. I will post the layouts here is groups of 5. If I have more images than just the layout I will share them too. I will also add the sketch so you can see the inspiration for the layout. The main layout photo will link to the process video of me making it.
Before we get to the sketches and layouts, I did 2 videos sharing the papers and items I had chosen.
Day 1
I changed this sketch up as I didn't want to use the large hexagons. I thought that the cut apart sheet in the Kaisercraft range I used would be a good substitute. I am not sure it looks as good, but I guess the memory is documented.
Day 2
So this sketch has a fair amount of mixed media in the background. I don't do mixed media well.....apparently I can't call it the right thing either. Multi media? I think that is a whole different thing...lol. Instead of doing the hexagons, I chose a paper that has cupcakes all over it. So I still have repeating elements on the background.
Day 3
This was one of the sketches that I followed pretty closely. I really liked how it came out. If you zoom in, you will see that the photo on the right is out of focus and blurry. It is the only one I have and it was taken back before digital photography where you had to aim, click and hope for the best.
Day 4
When I first saw this sketch I didn't like it. I was challenged to think that it might result in a nice page. Plus it appeared to have a mixed media element. Me being me, I used patterned paper instead. I absolutely love how this page came out and it has been my favourite sketch so far. I will definitely be keeping this one in my files to use again.
Day 5
This was another sketch that I just didn't gel with. I chose a paper that had scalloped edges and the idea was to use two corners of that paper to represent the circles on the sketch. But as I was making the page I took a different route. So my layout looks nothing like the sketch....oops. I will do another page eventually to follow the sketch as I feel that is only fair to the person who created it.
